I was not mentally ready for this film. I really don't understand the low ratings. The film opens with what seems to be a typical group of friends who grew up together and are now facing deployment together. Don't let the opening fool you. It doesn't take long at all to realize this isn't going to be the type of film it hides behind in the beginning. It's dark and gruesome. It's real and terrifying. It uses monsters as metaphors the minds of humanity not only DURING war and refuge, but the aftermath as well. The monsters are there, but they are not what scares you. The humans are what scare you. The human stories are real and you feel each and every one. The acting is impeccable and the way the story is told is pure perfection. How this film was never more recognized or praised astounds me. This film is not humans against monster, it's humans against humans. It will certainly make you think, feel and wonder how you took so long to experience it.
