Pre Occupied

I just paid $20 to watch this and could hardly get through to the end, It's THAT annoying. I absolutely hated it and think this really is the worst movie I've ever seen. The whole movie centres around this Gen Z Benji character, who is a conceited, narcissistic, self-important, insufferably awful jerk. Every scene is a set up for him to act out; from interrupting conversations from the other normal people, turning up late, behaving inappropriately at awkward times, etc, etc. The only thing that matters is his opinion and he manipulated the whole group into doing what he wants. His prominence in the movie seems to be because they want to tell the world that their view of history is the only one to correctly understand and comprehend it, even history like the holocaust. This is a terrible, terrible vanity project that is so up its own backside it redefines the concept and only confirms my utter contempt for this generation. I'll never watch anything produced by Eisenberg again...

Great movie with an intelligent story that has a hint of Agatha Christie and PD James. Brilliant character acting really carries the whole movie up to a high level

This is a terrible series that is just another example of exploitation; cleverly disguised as having a message but it’s the same old thing; the evils of corporate America trying to make even more money by distorting and then exploiting racial tension...they could try and increase the peace and build bridges along with those already doing this; but no, they want to make things worse. Why?

Sci-fi used to be so much more positive, even when dealing with hostile environments or intense threats (Predator or Alien for example) because there was always home; a basis of hope. It was still there and you could still get back to it and be safe. The idea of home is important. Everything now seems to be the opposite; it’s all in line with the political agenda: the dying earth and the new religion of woke, much of which is just miserabilism looking for an excuse. This movie has great visuals, but that was all it had for me. I’m pretty sure anyone who used to like older sci-fi, such as Star Trek (crucially NOT “Discovery”) is left wondering why this vacuous stuff is being made. Where has optimism and positivity gone? It just makes me depressed and I’m not going to pay someone to make me feel that. Stuff this, it’s back to my DVD collection from now on. Goodbye Netflix

Tense, atmospheric thriller. Much of the appreciation for this will depend on the viewers experience of the cold and impoverished coastal communities on which it is based. These produce the steely and deeply religious characters depicted here and their reactions to their unexpected circumstances is very realistic. I found it compelling and much of the atmospheric setting resonated with me, but I am from one of these islands so I’m not sure it will suit everyone. The acting though is excellent

Detailed and informative history of our country’s complex history. I hope the producers make another season, there’s still a lot of ground to cover and it would be good to have that with their authority.
