I am solely discussing Ultimate Team (UT) and would like to come forward as an EA employee—or as it’s now called, a “whistleblower.”
Together with other EA employees from around the world—from Seoul to Bucharest, Southam to Orlando—we’ve formed a whistleblower group to put an end to this unfair system.
The game has become all about “Meta” and “Momentum.” It’s entirely focused on getting players to spend real money to acquire so-called meta players. The fun of the game is long gone. It’s nearly impossible to play Ultimate Team just for enjoyment because the entire concept is designed to force players into spending money. UT has been intentionally made extremely difficult to succeed in without using real money. The fun factor has become secondary—what matters now is how the game can be designed to make players spend more money. How can you enjoy the game when you win only three out of 30 games in a division? Where’s the fun in that? As a consumer, you’re practically forced to spend money to succeed. That is EA’s real goal!
We know this firsthand because our whistleblower team is intimately familiar with the internal mechanisms. This system is by no means fair. How can a game, which sees only minimal development improvements year after year, demand such immense sums from its players? EA presents it each year as a completely new game, solely to get consumers to keep spending. This is utterly unacceptable.
We, as EA employees, have tolerated this system for too long—but now it’s time for it to end!
We demand fairness. Our whistleblower team will release internal information to the public if the game isn’t fundamentally changed through patches. It must be adjusted so that it’s accessible to all players again, with the focus back on enjoyment instead of forcing players to spend money. We’re giving EA a deadline of one month! If no changes are made within that time, we will release internal information.
The reason we are making this move through Google reviews is to see if EA responds to the comments and makes improvements.
Our goal is to reach the public and the players, which is why we are posting this publicly. If EA doesn’t want to face harm and downfall, they should meet our demands. The game needs to be playable without the need to spend real money! As I said, you have one month. We know it’s a short deadline, but we are putting EA under pressure to act!
Let me know if this works for you or if you would like any further adjustments!
