Would you call your freedom fighters a terrorist?
If, no, then don't read this book. Let me state the reasons:
1. It's totally biased and will compell you to look through Congress/Imperialist lens.
2. Very, unfortunately, in this books Matyr Bhagat Singh, Surya Sen, CS Azad is termed as terrorist.
3.The book only praises congress from top to bottom, and even justifies their misdeeds and wrong steps taken towards freedom struggle. There are two separate chapters dedicated solely for the Congress.
4. Only praises Gandhi, and always justifies his ledearship. Very few mention of Netaji, CR Das, Lokmanya Tilak in this vast book of 600 pages.
5. Very long description of Gandhian movement, but very brief description of deeds of Netaji (4-5 lines) and his INA, INA trials, Naval Munity, Air Force Munity, Police strike after WW2, which actually led to our freedom.
6. Justifies Gandhi's appeasement towards Muslims during Non cooperation movement while millions of Hindus butchered by them, and Gandhi kept silent towards whole issue.
If muslims are truly citizens of India, why they need to be appeased to join the national struggle by giving a Khalipa issue? Does they think themselves more close to Turkey & Khalipa than to India? These questions are bypassed.
7. Never mentioned the destruction caused to Hindu society by Muslim league after winning election in Bengal & Punjab, which ultimately lead to partition. On the contrary, they criticised Hindu nationalists wherever they can, in any aspect which aims that Hindus are only the sinner and Muslims are peaceful. (I'm not justifying any community, but you should keep an equal look while writing history).
8. In the communalism chapter, the author makes you think that the Hindus are only extremists, and others are peaceful due to secular reasons. Criticises Hindu Nationalists and term them as fanatics. This clearly checks their Anti-Hindu propaganda.
9. Always focused Nehru as supreme leader after Gandhi, and Bose as rather a nuisance in Congress (in chapter of crisis of Tripuri, Ch 34) and portrayed Bose a weak leader in front of Gandhi and Nehru. You will feel that same, after reading that chapter.
The authors were from JNU, and hence they carried a certain propaganda of Congress troughout the book.
So, better not to read a 600 pages book, which teaches you a manipulated history.
Pls - don't call me Sanghi or Bhakt, (as nowadays it's a trend if you question a certain sections) as I can't support the Nehruvian ideology and history.
