I see all of the positive reviews, but I felt like I was watching a show called "Happens To" instead of Dexter. Spoilers below: New York City has 8.5 million people, but Dexter happens to look like Red and happens to get in a car with a driver who happens to know the driver who escaped Red. Red happens to wear a hoodie obscuring his face and have zero online presence, but happens to carry his kill kit in a work bookbag with the company name on it. He happens to also carry his invitation to the serial killer dinner in the same bookbag and happens to mention it when he's about to die. The invite happens to have every relevant piece of information on it, including the required thumbprint..... Im almost tempted to watch it again just to count the number of sheer coincidences that made the show possible. Why not just let Dexter shine? Have him break into a police department, steal someone's ID and computer credentials and research it himself like he used to? I want to watch Dexter taking action, not Dexter happens to.

When I was a kid, I used to watch Columbo with my mom and I loved it. Now, Columbo is a quirky, oddly dressed woman named Elsbeth. The show is almost identical to Columbo, complete with showing the crime first, having Elsbeth zone in on the criminal right away, and confront the criminal at the end. The only difference is that Elsbeth isn't a detective. She's a lawyer consulting with the police. I just watched season two, episode seven, and she shined as a lawyer. I love the show!

When I read the description, I thought it would be about a woman who charms a congressman into legislation for equality for women.... Errgh While this does... eventually... happen, the leads goal isn't that for 95% of the movie. My suggestion is to skip this movie and watch On the Basis of Sex for a realistic portrayal of history. Spoilers to follow. The movie is about her trying to find a man to marry her to pay her bills. At around the 50% mark, after being introduced to a congressman, storekeeper, 'working' women, and multiple people with their own goals and story.... I got nearly impossibly bored. I kept thinking, what is the point of all these characters? After the movie finally dragged to the end, I realized they were added to make the movie longer. It could realistically have been a half hour long and gotten to the same end. When it finally hit the 95% mark and she asked the congressman to add women, I was like it's about time..... but then the movie slipped so far from reality it was disgusting. In the movie the congressman acted like he wanted to do this.....but... The real congressman suggested adding women to make the equal rights amendment FAIL. Thankfully, he failed and it still passed, but NO it didn't provide for equality for women, it only mentioned employment for women. Yes, that was a first step, but this movie so badly messed up the truth, it was shameful. It should have showed Kelsey Grammar as a villain who saw an opportunity to get what he wanted.... which was to make the equal rights amendment FAIL. I would so have preferred the movie show him with real pie on his face when it passed. Then there's this whole montage with the lead and the working woman farming and eventually opening a restaurant.....at the tables, both races are eating together....in the 60s????????? And working women opening a restaurant people actually go to????? In the 60s?????? Wow, way to rewrite history....rose colored glasses anyone?

I binged season one because, while I was aware of all the racism in the south, I didn't know about everywhere else. I didn't know about the predatory banks and lenders, or about the housing maps. It was good to be educated on these things while watching a horror show. Overall, I thought the acting was excellent as well as the casting, but the story portrayed all of the main characters as being mentally ill. That got to me after a while. I kept thinking the reality of this situation is much scarier than these ghosts they keep seeing. I felt like, especially the lead white lady with her smiling face, was much more unsettling. If the racism had been the focus, instead of having the whole cast being Schizophrenic, would have been much scarier. Anyway, that's my take. It was entertaining and educational, but I didn't think the ghostly element was necessary.

Regina King, all I have to say is wow. She made this series. I cried so many times watching her. Excellent job!

Contains spoilers I don't understand why this movie got so many positive reviews. At the beginning, I wondered why Jessica didn't call the police when the villain almost ran her into a truck. Then, when she saw him stalking her at the gas station, surely she should've called them, but no....then he's at her window and she doesn't tell him off and call the police....then she doesn't tell her mother.... weird decisions. Then, he slashes the tire on her trailer to catch her, but "couldn't cut it all the way through" so there's this convenient scene in the woods where she gets beaten and drugged.... I did think it was pretty smart of her to shove her coat under the door to catch the key, but how did she know it was stuck in the door in the first place? Why did the villain leave the key stuck in the door? Then she gets away, but he somehow finds her over and over. How? Is he a blood hound? There were lots of strange decisions leading up to the climax, but the strangest for her was hiding in his car? What made her think the key was in it? Up until this point, I would've probably given three stars for keeping me marginally entertained, but THEN.... The woman crawls into the back of his car while he's holding a shovel....I was like he's going to put that shovel into the back, but it magically disappears!!!!!! The killer gets into the front with no shovel. What happened to the shovel??? Did he just leave a yellow handled shovel right where he buried a dead body? He drives away and stops because he can't find his cell phone, but doesn't think it might be in the same place he just left his shovel? Anyway, that did it for me. By the time she's wandered into a clearing with strange smoke coming from odd places, I had given up hope. Then, instead of calling the police again, she calls his wife.... 🤔 The end doesn't even say whether she lives or dies or if she gets to wherever she was going, or if she reconciles with her mom..... It was probably the worst ending I've ever seen.

Other than the distracting cartoonish CGI I liked this movie. Go girl power 😁

It was entertaining to a point, but when it got to the rape scene....I got annoyed. Then forcing a kid to kill her father...I was done. I read the reviews after watching the movie and I agree, it was pretty darn racist.

Great low budget movie worth watching. Donald Sutherland is a great actor and kept my interests every time he was on screen.
