I seem to be the minority but I did not like this movie. The trailer was extremely misleading, the first half of the movie was extremely depressing and even eerie at times like something scary was about to happen. I walked out after about 45 minutes. Maybe it got better after that but my mood was already soured. Not sure why they had Mike Flanagan, who is famous for directing in the horror genre, directing this movie. I think Rob Reiner (who directed Stand by me) would have been a much better choice for this inspirational (albeit existential) story. Powerful source material but tone of this film was completely incorrect.
