Unbelievable that Hardy would choose to do Venom, let alone a sequel, when Taboo was left in limbo. As I understand it, or read somewhere, there was a kind of unspoken deal for doing Locke before going back to Taboo. Now all this time has passed and we have two of Hardy’s worst films in Venom and its sequel, I know Hardy doesn’t give a damn but what makes a great actor a truly iconic actor is role selection. At least that’s how I’ve always seen it. Delivering stellar performance in flops seems such a waste. Yes, I’m clearly a fan of Taboo, and it’s hiatus - or more accurately, it’s neglect - is the impetus for reviewing Venom, butf don’t think for a moment that fact has anything to do with what a horrible movie Venom was. The sequel was even worse, if that’s possible. At this point and with the length of this review, I’ll not go into the myriad reasons why I hold my opinions on the Venom films. I will just end by restating that as big a fan of Tom Hardy I am, his choice in films/roles will be what defines him in the end and it’s not looking good for my man.
