This expansion is going to be very divisive I fear. In my opinion, I thought it was fantastic. The world building& the teaching about the various cultures is incredible. The zones would’ve been beautiful (as usual), but with the new graphics update they were absolutely stunning. The people of Tural were all intriguing and had fleshed out cultures and backstories. I can’t say much more about the story to avoid spoilers. But i will say that one of my favorite things about FFXIV is their ability to address real life topics (that are often hard to talk about) in a very genuine and deep way. While the characters are dealing with said topics, you’re indirectly encouraged to reflect on your own personal life which can be a pretty emotional experience- I’ve NEVER experienced this before in a video game, but FFXIV never fails to do this to me lol. As for the content- the raids and dungeons are the BEST that ffxiv has yet to put out. The fights are challenging and interesting, the boss themes are catchy, the environment is gorgeous. And the music!!! It never fails, somehow the music gets better and better every expansion. Soken is an absolute genius! (Square Enix if you’re by chance reading this- the people need the Dawntrail Soundtrack NOW!😂) I’m very excited for what lies ahead for the Dawntrail patch cycle!
