This is an exceptionally broken game that while beautiful and intriguing offers the most frustrating and incomplete mechanics I’ve ever had the misfortune of experiencing. The dash function is seemingly its own rhythm game without any rhythm to follow and thus is impossible to ever correctly time. While you can onerously slog your way through most of the game to try and appreciate its crafted presentation, the boss fights are designed by some schmuck who doesn’t understand what he’s trying to do. The difficulty unforgivingly ramps up with no guidance such that I originally thought the purpose must be to allow your character to lose and experience one of the game’s many cutscenes. It is a painful, unpleasant and trying undertaking, and certainly the opposite of fun. As an artistic catharsis, this game certainly causes me suffering but not because of empathy with the main character.
