The show centers on a single character who basically knows everything and can do anything. There are, of course other characters - interesting ones even - but they are a side show to the Michael show.
Star Trek is traditionally an episodic show that rotates the focus of characters and explores team dynamics and problem solving. In Discovery, everyone is wrong and Michael has all the answers in one long story arc.
The show looks good, at least.
