The movie is awesome- Johnny captured Hunter (the author of the book that the film is based on) PERFECTLY- you can really tell he lived with him for a while.
I have never understood why this film seems to be so heavily hated! I read the book before I watched the film (it's my favourite book of all time) and I have to say they have captured it magnificently! No other film has come close in my mind in representing a book so well!
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is about finding the so-called 'American dream'... which we come to realise may not be what it seems... and beautifully makes fun of the self-proclaimed 'professionals' at a drug conference! Based on Hunter (who was a journalist) and his real-life trips to Vegas, once to cover the mint 400 and another trip to cover the drug conference. All with the help of his attorney of course.
All the while being on a bunch of drugs- what else could you want?
It's hilarious, scary and shocking. It makes you evaluate just about everything. Every detail creates a horrifically stunning film, that seems different every time you watch it.
Hunter has more insight into the world than most people and this movie reflects that when you allow yourself to see past all of the craziness!
Super cool and fun way to let yourself go for a while and just ENJOY THE RIDE :)))))
