I haven’t been this engrossed in a book in years! When I wasn’t at work, I was reading Demon Copperhead. When I was at work I was thinking about Demon Copperhead. Just finished the book, still thinking about Demon! You know from the first page the path the story is going to go down. Not saying that in a negative way at all. Barbara Kingsolver does an amazing job of telling the heartbreaking truth about the opioid epidemic in this country and how it affected the children that were born into it. It’s very sad, so if you’re not in that frame of mind for a sad story hold off for now. However, there is some humor throughout. Barbara Kingsolver did an incredible job in her research to write what feels like an amazing memoir. Must read!

Horrible. I’ve seen better acting in Lifetime movies. Stunned that a well known actor like Matthew Broderick was involved in what felt like a long, boring made for tv movie. You feel no connection to the actors, no sympathy or hatred because they all were so one dimensional. There is so much that isn’t touched on in this story, zero mention of people turning from OxyContin to heroin. No mention of how the Sackler family played a HUGE part in causing the heroin epidemic in this country because of OxyContin. I didn’t finish this show having the complete and utter disdain and hatred toward the Sackler family as I did while watching Dopesick. If you want to know the complete rise and fall of Purdue and how the Sackler family caused the heroin epidemic watch Dopesick. The acting in Dopesick is amazing and the story is so well done. Painkiller was painful to watch. Pun intended.
