Been playing since ARR, and game always had a bit slower pace in terms of story. But we did get interesting characters, great conversation and lore in exchange. FFXIV is also famous for its well designed dungeons/raids/trials.
Dawntrail leads us into new world, with amazing and beautiful new zones. Artstyle shines as always and soundtrack is yet again near perfect.
Devs created amazing dungeons that are, imo, great improved. They are creative and fun. As well as trials.
New content is what was expected, some old things from previous expansions are re-used.
So, whats wrong with Dawntrail?
The MSQ (main story) part is done very poorly. Yes it has slower pace, that is expected as always.
One of the main reasons is forced unlikeable new character - Wuk Lamat. She is like a Jar Jar of FFXIV glued to you whole expansion. Everything revolves around her and you can not avoid it. Personally, she is extremely unlikeable and annoying character. What does not help that her VA is very bad in certain major impact moments. It does not help that, you as player, dont use any of your abilities for first 4-5 hours into msq (no combat at all).
I love ffxiv, its my favorite mmorpg. But Wuk Lamat simply ruins every moment in game. It would not matter but you are forced to be around that character whole time that makes me hate new story...
