Simply. The. Best! This drama has worked on me like a charm. It's made me explore Chinese dramas, Chinese culture.. it's even made me want to learn Chinese so I can watch the show a fourth time without the distracting subtitles. The story is amazing, each character and not just the two main ones, have been given so much care and you actually feel all of them experience growth from the events that transpire as the series progresses. There isn't one dull moment in the entire story. So much love to the author of Mo Dao Zu Shi. Do read the novel if you can. Xiao Zhan's acting is so versatile, he brings out the lead character's many many layers with such efficiency, it gives me goosebumps. Wang Yibo one the other hand is pure LOVE. First of all he's divinely beautiful and just lights up any screen with his mere presence. On top of that his subtle expressions speak volumes for the character, making him irrestible. And the two of them just gel so well, and their love just oozes out of every scene they share. I so badly wanted them to kiss just once. But even without that happening, it's crystal clear that these two are soulmates who complete each other in more ways than anyone else will ever be able to. Please world of Chinese drama, give us more stories like the Untamed.

The premise was great but characters were not fully developed and too many side characters thrown in just to increase the length of the series but without adding any value to the main plot. Hence the main story seems stretched out as not enough time is allotted for to develop the relationships between the brothers or their respective love interests. My favourite character was that of the younger brother, who had sufficient layers to his character and is the only one who actually shows some growth. My worst favourite was elder brother's love interest, who, despite having third highest screen time is a complete mess. She was introduced as a formidable martial artist who dressed as a man in order to survive. This showed a strength of character. However, she was reduced to a clingy crybaby as the series progressed, more of a defenseless hindering mess than someone who can stand on their own in the martial arts world. The cinematography of the series is reminiscent of 'Untamed' even one of the siblings dress is almost exactly a copy of Wang Yibos character from Untamed. And the flute music also evokes some of the same feeling. But Handsome Siblings cannot compare even a little bit. Untamed has set the standards very high for Chinese period dramas. I really want to see one which can compare a little with them. Anyone has any suggestions? I'll be willing to try them.
