It is an interesting look at the last days of one, if not the only, greatest opera singer in the world. Angela Jolie did an amazing job of recreating the turmoils Ms Callas must have throughout during the last years of her life. Her troubled childhood, her enormous success as an opera singer, adored by millions around the world. Then the betrayal by Onasis, the billionaire who after 13 years of luxurious life together, dumped her for Jakie Kennedy. Ms. Jolie, in addition to being a very gorgeous woman, is a great actress. The operas selected for the movie were excellent and fitting to the story of Callas. I would want to see this movie over and over.

It is a celebration of English gals. The author is in love with the heroine. I was for a while too then it got a bit pedantic, so predictable. Over and over, in every line, we are told just how marvelous she is. Every conversation she held with everyone is recorded, to the point of boring. I realize it was made into a movie etc, but it just bored me to death.

I read it because it was recommended but it depends on your taste. The book is like a tough puzzle. So difficult to decipher who said what why. I read, reread, still totally confused. Characters are interesting but they all speak like words are scarce, sometimes just one word or a stare on an extremely critical issue. You have to guess what they might have meant. The ending is the worse. Whitaker tests your patience over and over. So tiring.

If you like murder mystery books you may like the plot. Whittaker does everything to keep you from understanding what is going on. Sentences are short, confusing, frustrating so much so that my forehead got wrinkled from frowning. The story is told in 261 chapters, each 2-3 pages, jumping from one character or event to another, stopping at a critical point.
It was the characters that kept me reading. Some things just did not make sense. I usually read the books at least twice. Not this one. I was so exhausted when finished.

UÄŸur Aslan is outstanding! His acting as a dedicated, honest but foxy investigator is excellent. I love the way he uses the Turkish language and his accent (he does have one). Every one needs a worker like him: smart, funny, humble, super fast getting the work done. His acting is so natural and he is fun to watch.
I find the lawyer Ceylin so overbearing. Why is she made to be irrational, emotional, quite often needy of a man to control her emotions and illegal behavior? I like tough woman but she is more like a bully with people she can. Not nice.
Ilgaz (sp) as an honest, law abiding prosecutor is great. He does a good job being a sensitive, no none sense prosecutor. Good looking too.
So is Pars. Very interesting and a colorful character and superbly acted. I love his sense of humor and being an affectionate brother.
The plot is not that credible. Over charged. I stopped watching after the 8th episode.
