As the parent of a child with ADHD, I found a lot of the ideas in this book are not only unhelpful, but serve to spread stigma about ADHD. The author states that the medication my child uses to get through the school day is a thousand times more addictive than illicit drugs, yet we have seen their behavior improve and they can stop the medication on the weekend when there is no school with no side effects or withdrawal. I’m not sure who this book is for as my understanding is that a large portion of folks who exhibit addictive behavior are on the neurodivergent spectrum. If you have ADHD and need helpful information I would recommend the work of Dr Russel Barkley or Dr Sharon Saline.
