Extremely formulaic. Fun to take your 13 year old to though. Giant CGI monsters fight like WWF wrestlers to save humanity from other big bad CGI monsters. Spoiler alert, the good guys win in the end and all is well and the monsters are all friends now. Very politically correct, sufficiently diverse and women take the lead while overbearing, old school, white guy trying to tell everybody what to do dies early.
