Amy Schumer is back, and unfortunately, so is her exhausting brand of comedy. Kinda Pregnant is yet another painfully unfunny attempt at a movie that leaves you wondering: Who keeps giving her work?
The premiseโSchumer faking a pregnancy for attentionโsounds like something that could be mildly amusing in the hands of a better actress or a halfway decent script. Instead, what we get is two hours of forced jokes, unlikeable characters, and Schumer doing what she always does: acting like sheโs the funniest person in the room when, in reality, sheโs the reason the room is empty.
Her performance is grating, her delivery is flat, and her entire presence on screen feels like an endurance test. The film tries to sell us on the idea that Lainy (Schumerโs character) is someone to root for, but thereโs nothing remotely redeemable about her. Sheโs selfish, annoying, and, worst of all, not funny. Itโs like Schumer took all the worst parts of her previous roles and cranked them up to unbearable levels.
The only thing Kinda Pregnant proves is that Schumerโs career is running on fumes. This isnโt comedy; itโs a punishment. At this point, Hollywood needs to cut its losses and finally accept that no one is asking for more of her.
0/1 Iโd rather watch paint dry!!!
