As a middle-aged woman, I found this Cronenberg inspired body horror film to be deeply poignant. The level of self-hatred of Demi Mooreโs expertly played character, triggered by societal cruelty toward aging women in particular, strikes at the heart of the issue with such ferocity. Itโs unforgettable. References to Aronofksyโs Requiem for a Dream are clear, showing the astute way the director pushes us so far into discomfort, we canโt help but question destructive norms and be moved.
