A story of human friendship that defies race, class and sexuality. Largely set in a teal green 1960s Cadillac (with fins), the film plays with racial stereotypes and social hierarchy. What could have been tired, cliched material caught fire with the fine acting from Ali and Mortensen. Though based on true accounts with the screenplay written by the son of the driver played by Mortensen, it's a drama where the acting, if not always true to historical account, creates a sizzling slinger not to be missed.
