The original edition (1970) includes a beautifully-written history of jewelry. Also, the technical drawings by James Gibbs were meticulously rendered per Morton's instructions: exact yet looking freely drawn. The book filled a void: it was the first book a person 'on the street' could use to setup a jewelry bench and learn techniques, and be equally useful in a college art department.

Growing up, I reread my favorite books every year, including the Betsy-Tacy series. I am a senior citizen, now, reading Betsy and Joe for the first time in over 60 years, and enjoying it thoroughly! It has warmth and heart and shows a good understanding of adolescence.
