Disappointing from start to finish. The whole book lacks a coherent plot, and goes into intense detail about every aspect of life in the monastery and the rituals therein. If I had been looking for a book about a Benedictine monastery this would be perfect, but I found it to be full of theological waffle and oh so clever conversations between Canon Clement and the monks.
