Ive avoided the anime because I didnt like the art style and heard the pacing was kind of rough. The live action show though is fun and interesting. I like the music, the cast, and the overall comfortable, positive energy of the main plot. I know the original series makes some funny choices with costumes/creatures and seeing that come through in the costume and set design is pretty entertaining.

A real mashup of disjointed themes. This made me wonder if this was a parody, like they were seeing what they could get away with. Several scenes made me expect that at any moment, they would zoom out, revealing that an aspect of the multiverse would be a purposefully shlocky film within a film they saw a bit of before returning to something well written. I get that madness is in the title, but I really didn't think that would extend to the universe we'd been shown as the "main" one, nor my judgement of my own decision for having paid to see this.
