**NO SPOILERS HERE**
Firstly, like many people writing reviews about this movie I am a huge fan. In particular of 'The Matrix & Reloaded'. I also get this movie too. I see it as an artistic endeavour.
I also see that it is of a lower budget and lacked the visual acuity the first two movies had before they sold out to the sci-fi blockbuster genre. This movie spent a lot of time paying homage to the originals with many quirky Easter eggs. Perhaps a little too much reliance on this.
Maybe like others, I also watched and waited for the green screen perfect world appearance to reveal the green tinted matrix that we can relate to but that never came. I liked the core of the story but realised with solemn hope that this was not like the first two movies in many ways.
It seems that Lana wanted to put the final nails on the matrix coffin leaving little for further discussion.
I would have really liked for them to have explored Neo's history. Why he specifically was the 'one' and why he had so much influence over the machines. A balanced back story here and the future would have been ideal in hindsight. It was a good watch and meant more as I grew up with these iconic cinematics. I do admittedly, feel like I won't be watching this repeatedly or in the near future.
Just my thoughts
