I was psyched to see this movie as Eddie Murphy and B.H.C. was a great movie memory from my adolescence. I'm not going to pan it. It was enjoyable. The first 30 mins are highly entertaining as Murphy easily slips back into a familiar and funny character. Combine this with some signature, great action choreography and the right amount of nostalgia and I was rolling with this movie.
By the end however, I was scrolling through my phone. The story is a bit lazy/formulaic and very predictable. The whole daddy/daughter bit is the same. Eddie is still humorous but not nearly as funny. Couldn't tell if it was him or the writing. Most of the time he's just giving his signature smirk for the camera. If you came for the nostalgia and good old fashioned action scenes, you'll come away satisfied. The movie is a bacon cheeseburger. Good but not great.
