This film aims at the classic "Kurosawa" or "Eastwood" archetype. It fails miserably. It tries to blend this with an awkward humor that doesn't fit alongside the seriousness it aspires for. There are decent running pieces throughout that only disappoint. The most appealing Character is the Protagonists dog. Each piece felt forced into a position it didn't belong. It's unclear whether the movie aimed to pay homage to various classics it attempts to blend, or just hoped a mixture would stick. There's a few scenes where the small residential feel is messed with, that makes the setting unclear. All-around I found it to be a poor film.
