A fabulous read. Total fun romp in the early 1700s when women had very few rights …even if they had a title… but Augusta and her twin are most resourceful ( old maids in their 30s?!)) and manage to deal with tough situations .
This book is also a great historical picture of medicine of the times and also the plight of the poor and mentally ill… and various social strata …
I felt with Augusta when she was unfairly treated by her jealous overbearing brother and couldn’t wait to know how she would deal with it.
Every subplot was exciting to read ….
It’s supposedly a young adult book .. well.…I am a senior and loved it!
