To say Iโm disappointed in this movie is an understatement. Their marketing team must be genius because viewers have no idea about the content or message of the movie before they are in a theater seat. Had I know what this movie is about I never would have gone to support it. At first it gives the impression that Barbie is on a mission to heal a little girls heart and help her feel special and loved in her own skin. Nope! Itโs not about that at all. In fact the message doesnโt empower women as much as it does belittle and hurt men. Snarky unnecessary comments were thrown in left and right along with choreography, costuming, and set design that stereotyped men into being stupid, self absorbed, and superficial. I was so disappointed that they blew a wonderful opportunity to focus on uniqueness of women and instead chose to ridicule men. I would never take my future children, especially my sons, to see a movie that tells them they are cruel, selfish, and donโt have a brain cell worth a darn. Iโm all for women empowerment! Letโs show women they are strong and beautiful and have so much potential! But NOT at the expense of hurting male counterparts everywhere. What happened to equality? Why canโt we work together? I am scared to think of how many millions of people will see this movie and think this is how the world is or should be. Itโs not!!
