For Bridget Jones Lovers this was coming home. It was like a big comforting hug. The nostalgia had me laughing, crying and smiling like a Cheshire Cat and completely engrossed from beginning to end. I hadnโt loved the previous movie so I was unsure of what to expect with this one, but it didnโt disappoint. That comforting feeling of catching up with a group of friends you havenโt seen in years but have known for life. As someone of similar age, it was a bitter sweet reminder of how many years have passed but was wonderfully sentimental. Returning faces from all three movies. What I absolutely loved was the subtle references to the previous movies too, lines so carefully repeated that when it first happens you arenโt sure if you imagined it but then realise you didnโt, or a previous wardrobe reappearance or a similar scene. Itโs hard to imagine what it would be like for someone who hasnโt seen the movies before, because it really did seem like a movie for those of us already in love with Bridget. Whether it be the people who started to love her after discovering the movies or those of us who used to, many years ago, read about her in a london column whilst on the train. Overwhelming : Loved it. But I am a sentimental old bird now.
