I have to say I don't totally understand all the positive reviews. As someone who loves visual novels, it was frustrating that my decisions had virtually no impact on the story, and 90% of the gameplay consisted of mashing the X button to get through all the dialogue. I almost gave up when I realized I would have to pay the game three times to get the "true" ending. That said, I'm glad I went through the final two cycles because they were much faster and more interesting than the first one. If it didn't include the first part, I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

I did not enjoy Elena of Avalor as much as Sofia the First, but it did improve in the second season. I especially liked the Song of the Sirenas episode, in which Elena met a mermaid princess named Marisa, who was voiced by Gina Rodriguez from Jane the Virgin. The show does a fantastic job with inclusivity, and I love meeting Elena in the parks with the other princesses because she's a lot of fun to talk to. I wish the Sofia character in the parks could talk too.

This show is absolutely incredible and feels nothing like a Disney Channel sitcom. It deals with serious real-world issues such as family estrangement, sexual identity, and cultural traditions. Andi, Cyrus, and Buffy all have unique and distinctive personality traits that make them stand apart from other Disney Channel characters. They are not two-dimensional. Each one has their own problems and flaws that they must learn to cope with and learn from over the course of the series.

This series does a fantastic job of fleshing out the world of Corona and balancing out Rapunzel's romantic relationship with Eugene with a friendship with her lady-in-waiting Cassandra, who is also a badass fighter. It gives Rapunzel the opportunity to see the world and grow as a person from the wide-eyed innocent girl in the tower to a strong and benevolent leader. I was really shocked by the plot twist in the season 2 finale, though!

There is so much I love about Sofia the First. Even though she is younger than the other Disney Princesses, she is incredibly brave, clever, and humble. She gets to do lots of things that the other princesses couldn't, such as transform into a mermaid, fairy, or flying unicorn, and traveling to incredible worlds that are filled with magic and adventure. Every episode has a song in it, and the writing was phenomenal from beginning to end. She was also the only Disney Princess to charm a villain into becoming a good guy when she befriended Cedric the sorcerer over the course of the show.
