While far from the best-written and most scientific show, it isnโt terrible. Negative reviews talk about the immaturity of the characters which is a good point, but in this futuristic setting, could there not be reasons, such as trip length, that would call for a crew with a median age of 27? Additionally, even those who pass psych evals might act in unpredictable ways when under the pressures of traveling light years, landing on various uncharted planets and moons, trying to find aliens with whom to communicate and determine if they are a potential threat, and knowing that death is a certain inevitability for some or all of the crew? In short, this show is for entertainment and not a study in protocol for the landing of an alien artifact in the U.S. This show, if taken as a fictional story and not a realistic representation of eventualities, gets a passing grade. Every show, movie, book, or other artistic representation should be judged in the proper perspective and looked at apples to apples. This is not a deeply philosophical and existential examination of humanity.
