I love Fantastic Beasts! Jude Law is the perfect Dumbledore. The role of Newt must have been written for Eddie Redmayne. I was quite skeptical about Johnny Depp being replaced as Grindelwald but Mads was amazing. Callum Turner has the most gorgeous voice ever. Jacob and Queenie fill my heart with joy. Lally became an instant favorite. Glad to see Bunty getting a bigger role.

So visually decadent, I would have watched just for that alone. Shailene Woodley is a feast for the eyes, as is Callum Turner. Felicity Jones and Nabhaan Rizwan are adorable. Amazing soundtrack! The flashbacks were a bit difficult to follow at first, since I haven't read the book. Still, I was engaged every minute and it left me in tears. I've watched it 3 times now.

Imagine having the hubris to think that you could improve upon the plot of one of the greatest novels of all time. Daisy didn't wait for Gatsby, she was engaged to Tom before the end of the war. This film is a cartoonish, frivolous farce. While creating a spectacle, the director missed the point. The actors did a good job overall, especially Leo. Amitabh Bachchan as Meyer Wolfsheim was one of the best things about the entire film. Olga Debicki was the most perfect Jordan Baker there could ever be. Carey Mulligan didn't make me believe that she was a woman who a man would obsess over for years. Toby had huge shoes to fill after Sam Waterston and was just to bumbling and goofy. Joel Edgerton was an excellent Tom Buchanan but I didn't believe that he and Daisy had ever loved each other. I love Isla Fisher but I didn't buy her as Myrtle.

An extremely well crafted film, from start to finish. Glorious scenery, excellent acting and a poignant, aching story of forbidden love and the painful reality of aging. Dench and Smith are exquisite, as always.

I didn't know that I could possibly love Johnny Depp or Kate Winslet more but I apparently I can. Sterling performances from both. Dustin Hoffman is a joy, as well. Beautiful movie reminding us of the powers of both love and our imagination. I've always been a nonconformist and this lovely story details why we should ignore society's silly expectations.

I was way more entertained by the first Magic Mike. This one had little redeeming value. Very disappointing.

A masterpiece of filmmaking. Cate Blanchett is ethereal and luminous while Rooney Mara is an exquisite, fascinating ingenue. Their chemistry is palpable. Every scene, shot, every line of dialogue is perfection. I'll be watching it again, for certain.

Glad I watched the movie before I read the critics reviews. Beautifully shot, great costumes and sets, wonderful cast. The story was riveting most of the way through but got weak towards the end. Still well worth watching.

I've read the book at least 30 times since I first discovered it at 10. This movie is only loosely based on the book. It was a huge disappointment to me. Maybe the book is just more than can be encapsulated in a single film. But I wanted to see the Murray Family of the book, set in the period appropriate to the book. And for goodness' sake, the Happy Medium was not a man.
