Bolstered by the music of Stephen Stills' Love the One You're With, and Sarah McLaughlin's Fear, in a sympathetic post-divorce reunion scene of Sandra Bullock with her young son, this throwback movie from 1999 that wraps with Ben Affleck talking about marriage in his best rendition of Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie in Sex in the City captured my heart.
Sure, for all the forces of nature that had brought the characters of Ben Affleck and Sandra Bullock together, maybe they should have ended up together, but from following the career of Maura Tierney from NBC's ER through the most current multiple-season journey in Showtime's The Affair, could any love story be written legitimately with her fiancรฉ ruling her out of his life??
Nothing against Sandra Bullock, nor her character, as written, in this watchable love story, but this tale of fate and circumstance ended in exactly the right place. Eerily prescient as a hurricane wreaks havoc with an outdoor wedding in Savannah 21 years ago.
Will we ever solve climate change in time? Hurricane season still dogs the East coast annually, fires continue to burn through our West coast annually, and a pandemic rages on in our entire country in a year in which democracy faces its biggest modern-day challenge in about 7 weeks' time.
Talk about forces of nature?
