POSSIBLE SPOILER TALK!!!!!! This is a lovely piece of art. It's a movie that deals with death and grief but in a future where science has a answer. I appreciate the fact that it didn't take itself so serious as to try and answer the question of "what is the human soul and what does it mean to have a soul?" becuase that let it focus on a chapter in the book of life...grief after death of a loved one. Mahershala gives a genuine and commanding performance as someone trying to answer this for himself and his family the best way he knows how, by finding a way to protect them from it and be around for them after a great loss suffered by his wife. It is grounded enough that it makes you ask the question to yourself without overthinking the science fiction of it. It's a drama delivered without sci-fi with a great balance of heart and soul. Mahershala continues to submit his name to the history books as one the best actors of the modern Era, he delivers a very believable and honest portrayal of someone with some really big decisions to make and I enjoyed everyone minute of it. Naomi Harris, Glenn Close and Awkafina were exceptional in their supporting roles as well. I could watch this again and enjoy it again.
