I was young-still in High School- when this book was first published. I'd read The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings between ages 12-14 and was well versed in the lore. When a buddy handed me Bored of the Rings I read it at one sitting and laughed from end to end. A lot of period references, like Goodgulf (a Gulf oil slogan) the Wizard and Tim Benzadrine (for Tom Bombadil), are inside and the humor is often crude, none of which distracts from the fun. If you're a Ring fanboi or girl this might not be for you. If you love parody, however, it's right up your alley. I rate it at 5 stars as both a period piece of American literature and as a fine, though rude, parody of the original.

Bored of the Rings

World of Warcraft broke barriers and set records like no other game since the sun source of all character + stat based games: Dungeons and Dragons. I played over a decade and have friends with 17+ years in. It is really beyond superlative as a comprehensive fantasy gaming immersion experience. Newer games copy WoW, but seldom exceed it. I remember fishing for buff food for my guildmates, training weapons skills at the trainers' square in Stormwind (or IF); by degrees exploring unfamiliar territory brazenly, or running for all I was worth with some OP monster in pursuit. The spread of content is enormous, the product of a decade and a half of living evolution, often in realtime. I still recommend WoW highly. Disclaimer-I'm an artist who relaxes through online gaming, not a paid agent or bot. If in doubt, go find my Youtube channel. ;-)

This is the deepest diving Martial Arts/Fighting Arts movie ever made. Actor/Stuntman/Writer/Director Bruce Li (Hé Zōngdào) does a fantastic job of exposing the dark underbelly of the Wu Lin/Wu Xia Cinema tradition. Though I prefer some other artists in certain roles (Yuen Siu Tien as "Beggar So", or Sammo Hung as "Dirty Head", Kwan Tak Hing as Wong Fei Hung, Hwang Jang Lee in anything, for instance, Bruce Li shows, in this movie, how high one man can set the bar. Dark, dirty, gritty as a mouthful of coffee grounds. All that, and Danny Inosanto, too, the Chinese Stuntman is the one irreplaceable film* in a Kung Fu fan's archive. *Other than "The Victim", "The Kung Fu Odd Couple", "Dance of the Drunken Mantis". and "Secret Rivals".

A first class work of historical forensic analysis. This is a fantastic book, presenting a much more credible timeline of historical blunder than the official narrative. In it, the Author shows T. R. has been misrepresented in the National Narrative. Far from being a hero, his was one of several very colorful figures on the national stage pushing for a "Brisk Little War" against Spain, a nation already trying desperately to accede to USA demands. I was carried along, much edified, and, ultimately, moved up the ladder in my quest for a better world perspective. I have the hardcopy and it is much worn from reading and re-reading.
