I decided to watch this movie when I got confused by the reviews, which I generally don't hold with. I usually trust my instincts when I want to watch a movie and mostly don't read them. This time I did and was left bemused. Critical reviews widely panned this movie, while majority of the audience  praised it. In situations like these, I find the reviews of critics misleading and like to go with the audience, this time was no exception. As always, glad I did. I liked it for its attmpt to uncover the details regarding the controversial death of a  prominent political leader. Dragging, a litttle at times, bit like a documentry some times and has its over dramatic & theatrical moments as well. Still, I found this movie involving and engaging enough, also seemed to be a well researched one. Subtle propoganda might be there. Despite this I did not feel it is catering to the requirement of any particular agenda. Mostly it stuck to fact finding. What I found all the more interesting was  that the movie presented the case from both angles strongly. Moreover,the satrical element of the movie spared no one., individuals, groups, parties all bore the brunt. The prominent cons, among othershortfalls were, the real difficulty to relate to the abrupt and the not so convincing transformation of the protagonist and emotional aspects of the movie . Its  a decent film, with some fine acting. Not a very good film, not a very bad film either. I am not impolring any one to watch it or get swayed by whatever is written. To each, their own. This is simply my opinion, right or wrong, as an apolitical person intersted in history and mystety, about a movie, I liked and wanted to write about.

Flamboyant..that is it..nothing else

Vodka Diaries is slow suspenseful speculative. It is intense though has humour sprinkled throughout. It is by no yardstick a great movie but is definitely not a pathetic one as is attempted to be proved by critics's reviews. My experience of reading the reviews has led me to realize that critics can crucify a pretty decent movie and glorify a  deplorable one. The  movie, i feel, is not for those who are going ga ga over tiger zinda hai or are fans of fast movies. I find it like the old liquor to be savoured leisurly. This is at the least a one time watch as most of the movies that have been made nowdays are. However as I don't go by crtics's reviews that; s why I don't and I shouldn't expect others to go by mine. To each their own, if one wants to watch they should do so at their own pleasure or risk. I only wrote this review because I couldn't see a movie which is not that bad to be declared so by those who have a right to their opinion of deciding a movie that might be good or not but no right to tell others to watch or avoid something they liked or not.

'Fun-tastic' movie..Bohemian Irrfan is terrific and Parvathy is delightful..
