Punk RockFoxy

A beautiful, thoughtful, meditative movie. Characters I loved getting to know and care about. A wonderful synthesis between the music/soundtrack and the visual content: together they deliver a tangible sense of place, mood, atmosphere. Probably the best movie I've seen all year.

The movie doesn't hold up to even the slightest scrutiny. Previously established canon (and character arcs) of the Star Wars universe are discarded and overwritten here. Themes from the previous two movies are abandoned. Joseph Cambell's hero's journey is abandoned in favor of the American Monomyth. The movie is afraid to say anything, and so the end result is pure fan service and nostalgia.
