Dan levy and Kristen Stewart have a wonderful job in making the viewers relate to their characters! My favorite scene of this film is where Dan talks to Kristen about how coming out of the closet is a highly emotional and unique experience for every individual.
Overall, Abby really needed to break up with Harper. Harper is a master manipulator and displays classic pick me up behavior, which isn't surprising given the fact that her family is extremely toxic. She's not broken out of that bubble of awfulness. She's never held accountable for her actions and her awful deeds never have repercussions that last more than a few minutes. Riley faced a world of trauma because of Harper. Harper's parents practically made it impossible for the sisters to share any kind of a positive bond.
And at the end of the film, when all is happy and goody goody, it actually annoys you. Anyone who has had to deal with a toxic family of the kind shown in the movie, knows that it takes a lot of time to break out of that vicious cycle. Neither is it easy, nor is it pretty. The end just seems convenient and ignorant.
Please avoid watching this film.
