I loved this book except I wanted to hear more about the 5 characters who got through to the US and forged new lives. How did it end, exactly? I read the book in two sittings and my body experienced it as a thriller. I am very white but living in California and paying attention to the world gives me the tiny belief that what happened was real. I never once said, “yeah right? This is a story that needs to be told and more than what we know about family separation-which is horrific. I would like to read true accounts from women and families and teenaged girls about their experiences. I say finish the book with a sequel! Also the only book that I have read this past year with no typos!
