This is not done by acting in a sycophantic way with officials and authority. Reporting has to be more than superficial :it really must be "iconoclastic " if it is to add value to Australia's culture and democracy. ABC reporting must also be fearless as well as iconoclastic because the corporate media derives its revenue from advertising and commercial interests,much of which is based on exploiting and taking advantage of poorly informed individuals. For example, the tobacco industry's profits,many $billions, were built on the death and slavery of millions of people.Today the hospitality trade turns over $billions by brainwashing the public into becoming obese and disfigured. Hooray for iconoclastic media!!!!!

Your Currant Affair producers have recently run reports highlighting individuals who prefer to be on welfare ( the New Start Allowance) instead of looking for a job.You claim that these are the kind of people being targeted by the Morrison government's policies - to drug test the unemployed and quarantine their spending. I have an idea for you. Why not balance the politics behind your attacks on the unemployed by showing your viewers how much damage is being done to our quality of life by people who have a job? Kenneth Hayne's recent Royal Commission into Banking and Finance Industry misconduct found the world of finance is dominated by predators and greed,creating misery for many. The agricultural industry makes money on the back of Green House Gas emissions and contributes to global warming. At the same time, advertisers ,fast food and soft drink vendors are "working hard" to drive up obesity and Type 2 diabetes.Just maybe we need more welfare "bludgers" ? Sincerely,John Glazebrook
