I know people are out there hating on the game and it’s ending but to me, I feel as though it was the perfect ending. Abby and Ellie had both fought for the same thing: Vengeance. And both had rightful arguments. Abby has her father stripped from her at the hands of Joel, so in an act of revenge she took Joel’s life. Ellie had everything taken away and realized that maybe there was no use to kill Abby. Both had suffered enough for a lifetime and came to the realization that this world was cruddy and it was useless to go on these violent tangents. Joel’s death which was seen as “undeserved” or “disrespect” don’t see the full picture that Naughty Dog was painting. Joel was never a hero, so why would he die the hero’s death. In our eyes as a community, we saw what Joel did as an honorable thing, but in reality it was selfish. He took possibly the only thing that could fix mankind all because he was scared of losing someone again. That’s not to say that i didn’t love Joel, because i did. But for people to write off his death and the ending as “bad writing” is blasphemous. This is hands down a game of the generation and of the ages. I believe as time goes on, we’ll come to the realization that this game deserved much higher praise than it received in the beginning. Thank you Naughty Dog
