Personally I really don't understand why this game is getting so much hate. First of all, you should appreciate all the attention to detail that they put into this game so everyone could play it and enjoy all the attention to detail (which sadly, people don't pay too much attention to in some games). Secondly, the story is amazing. Any game that can make you feel different emotions is most likely a good game with a good story. I know for sure that many people cried while playing this game. The game is an emotional roller coaster. And (light spoilers ahead) I like that they actually went ahead and made you play as the antagonist in the middle of the game. That was a very courageous but a smart move. I would definitely encourage people to play it for themselves and go and try to have their own opinion about the game rather than agree with others who played it.
