Started well…sucked my wife & me in. Otherwise…Shallow…Weak scripting & predictable what’s-next. Will appeal to the teen/post-teen demo with its hormone-driven plot & script. Mostly teen angst theme — poor, tormented teens with sex and self on the brain, along with enough ‘selfless’ acts sprinkled in to provide heroic/heroine figures to aspire to. Couldn’t stomach the constant Jackie/Cole romantic/sexual confusion and tension…c’mon — every episode??! Classic ‘Hollywood bad-boy-wins’. Season 2?? All I can say is “Meh, let’s watch ‘Alone’”…or something adult-like.

If you want to learn about nature and its creatures, don’t watch this series. If you want to hear Hawking-inspired, anti-theistic suppositions of how the earth came into being or how the bear manages to find food without a spin of a cosmic roulette wheel, then this show is for you. Morgan Freeman, I love you & your rich narrative abilities; but if you don’t question the ‘hypotheses’ you spout, then — I have to question your motives for taking this gig with the BBC. BBC , please do us all a favor and stick to producing footage for which you’re known, (incredible macro/micro images of wildlife & creatures), instead of pushing your own bastardized agenda of creationism & “science” down the viewers’ throats.
