Beautiful game full of twists and turns; wonderful ode to Nintendo's very lengthy Mario franchise with all kinds of tunes, enemies and traps waiting you in here. Great singleplayer and time trials; the Knockout mode in particular is extremely fun! That said, the open world roaming mode lacks a bit of ''oomph'' so to say. There are challenges scattered around, but most of them are either too well hidden or too easily found - There's no balance, unfortunately. However, it IS fun to grab random items and just drive around hitting cars or even random NPC's riding around haha.
This is absolutely the evolution that the franchise needed, and if Nintendo can iron a few things out with the open world/roaming mode concept, it will be a very strong contender for possibly the best Switch 2 game already.
Pros and Cons:
+ Beautifully crafted, with alot of attention to detail in terms of enemies from older Mario titles;
+ Great music with remixes and brand new ones;
+ Knockout Tour is very fun!
+ Beautiful open world...
- That is unfortunately a bit too barren and the secrets are either too easily found or too difficult
- Not all characters on the roster deserve to be here (Friggin' Skeleton Fish, really?!)
