Please do yourself a favour- DO NOT WATCH THIS SHOW IF YOU LIKE K-DRAMAS. The only good thing about it is that itโs short!
Or maybe thatโs the reason they couldnโt do justice to the 125 plots they had running at the same timeโฆif youโre attempting to fuse a k-drama with spin-off of a pretty okay teenage rom-com, then atleast let the content breathe.
Let me elaborate: The writers spent so much time building up this fairy tale romance and just like that, it was tossed aside for some seriously messed up, unexplored and frankly uninteresting sub-plots. The sudden realisation of having โbi/pan/fluidโ feelings for a girl who has negative interest in the female lead was shoved down your throat and youโre made to feel guilty if you canโt accept a โconfusedโ teenagerโs plea. Kitty being queer felt like a forced narrative that needed more time to develop and came out shoddily done.
And then there was the k-drama second lead syndrome tossed in there for no clear reason either. (Yes, we know what you were trying!!) Please, Min-ho tried, but there was no depth to that connection. There was better chemistry with Q, IMHO.
And let me just say what a travesty Daeโs character development was. I still donโt know how I feel about this character, was he inherently good and caught up in circumstances or was he a spineless idiot? There were a lot of layers about him they could have explored but no, weโd rather Kitty have screen time being annoying and completely flaky!
Ugh, I havenโt been genuinely pissed after watching a piece of content in a really, really long time. Hope the rant helps you.
