Been playing since Halo CE, this is strictly for the MP and not the campaign. It's lacking content, weapon balance is an issue, and we still run into the problem like Halo 4 where there are a decent amount of power weapons that are one hits. The map design....I don't understand it. You're missing the point of why a lot of people played the early halo's and that was due to excellent map design and weapon layout. The evolution of the mechanics as to how a player moves throughout the map alters the map design to a point where it just feels off all the time. It doesn't have to be symmetrical but at the same time theres too many harsh corners in some areas as well as too many open fields on other maps. Game modes, why did we not have a list of game modes to choose from right when the game launched, why did I have to play games like holding hard points, CTF, or oddball when I just wanted a slayer playlist. Big team battle, something they did right a far as map design, the layout is structured to create these initial spots of battle and map control directing the flow of player movement into the heat of battle well done. But the game mode of getting the batteries or cell's is sooooo boring even as just an idea it sounds boring, and when you experience it over and over you're basically just grappling or flying into a cell, picking it up, and avoiding any and all combat, it fails as a game mode. Customization....how did we get this so wrong where players have to unlock color schemes instead of choosing them right off the bat to customize how their character wants to look? why did we make that so difficult when it didn't need to be. Armour layouts, some are cool but most are boring, heck even in Halo 3 there were some really cool armour customizations to make your spartan look super cool, and I just don't feel like a powerful beast of a character with these sets. I can go on and dive deeper into these things but in summary they just kept missing the mark with these games from a MP perspective. You needed to bring in competitive players to test out your maps and mechanics to give you a better idea of how the game would feel. Right now it still feels rather linear. I'll give credit it does feel nice when weapon balance works, there's nothing like hitting all headshots on a pistol and out shooting your opponent, or finding a way to evade an enemy to turn the tides of a fight. But it still needs some time in the oven to get it perfect. The game has all the foundations to be great, and with continuous updates it will be. But at launch and a few months after it's not....
