I thought that "Destination Wedding" was a catchy title for a rom/com, but this sleeper turned into something refreshingly and amazingly different.
The dialogue and repartee is constant and unending between the two leads. I've gotta say it is some of the best repartee writing I've ever seen.
If I was still in college, we'd be talking about it in a Shakespeare class. I would be arguing that it is as much "Shakespeare" as far as one-off sustained, sarcastic, comedic dialogue and think I could successfully defend that. "Taming of the Shrew" dialogues between Petrucio and Katherina (Kate) and in Henry IV and Henry V plays the dialogues between Prince Hal and Falstaff would be my comparisons.
How the characters act those parts in the film and deliver the rapid-fire replies and toppers to each other is a wonder and worth a second, and perhaps a third viewing. It is a "think piece" and you've got to keep up mentally with the fast paced dialog just to keep your head around what is being said. The focus is on dialog so don't expect any "Fast and Furious" pace, fistfights or shootouts. This piece is way too adult for any of that. Something like this only comes along occasionally and is well worth my time.
It may not be your cup of tea, but I'll stake my reputation on my recommendation.
