Great set , great connection between Tommy Tiernan and Aaron Monaghan. Although the story is easily predicted and represents a very typical Kevin Barry style arc of dark humour followed by an inevitable tragedy, and post mortem it was still quite enjoyable . It ran a little long for me ( my ass cheeks were dead by the intermission) but good to see the abbey supporting plays like this. I saw Darragh O Brien there also and although I am not a small person I did feel for him being squashed into the darkness on what was a particularly balmy Dublin day in July.
Judith Roddy does well with a role that I thought should have more meat on it but I did find her attempt at a county accent took me away from the world of the play. The illusion was shattered.
Overall though,more of this please.
