Started watching this as a joke, turns out itโs worse.
Itโs frustrating because the monster and the creepiness is really good, but I canโt get over the horrible cliche of the teens all being sex and technology addicted. All of their problems are chalked up to phone addiction. It was unnecessary and I couldnโt get over that part.
I feel like this movie wanted to be satirical, I hope thatโs what they were going for, but it doesnโt come off as that. It comes off as a bunch of garbage parents who are mad at their kids for preferring their phone over them and so they write a petty horror movie to get rid of them.
On top of the cliche characters it has a bunch of common horror movie tropes. Letโs split up because thatโs a good idea. Letโs sneak away from the group to make out or something. Itโs frustrating.
A lot of people are saying that we arenโt โused to this kind of movie.โ That isnโt it. The plot of camping and getting killed by something in the woods is cool, but itโs ruined by all the little things.
This could have been so good but it isnโt. Two stars for the monster I guess.
