I usually love cult documentaries but this one is hard to watch. Not because it's gritty but because it takes so long to get to any of the gritty stuff. They spend so long going on about the halcyon days of the cult and romanticizing Ranniere that it seems more like the former members miss the cult more than they ever got awakened from it. So many things nobody cares about like "Keith plays the piano so well" and "we had fun in a center we rented out in New York".
Are you giving me a cult documentary exhibiting the manipulative nature of pseudo religious indoctrination or filming some Super 8 Wonder Days modern commune sitcom?
